Meet the Interns: Bryant Carvalho
Over the next few weeks, we will be putting the spotlight on our Amazing Intern Team – letting each one introduce themselves through a series of blog posts. Here’s one of the individuals currently interning at Burkett CPAs:
Bryant Carvalho stepped into this internship at BBB, his first accounting position, in January of this year. Despite being new to the field, Bryant has shown great aptitude and enthusiasm to learn about all things accounting. We have greatly enjoyed our time working with Bryant so far.
The focus of Bryant’s internship is taxes, but he’s had opportunities to gain knowledge in other areas as well. He hopes to leave this internship with new knowledge of accounting practices, software, and working in a professional setting.
Bryant told us he had high hopes coming into this internship, but it has “beyond exceeded them.” He has enjoyed getting to know the people of Burkett, and the amount of knowledge he’s gained in a few short months is greater than he thought possible. One specific area he has gained knowledge is individual tax returns and the many nuances that come along with them.
A student at Midlands Technical College, Bryant has been interested in accounting for about a year in a half. After this internship and his graduation from Midlands Tech this summer, he hopes to enroll at College of Charleston to finish his Bachelors and afterwards become a CPA.
Bryant was born in Winnsboro, SC, which is also where he grew up before moving to Columbia just four years ago. He has two dogs: Iggy (a French mastiff) and Marvin (a French bulldog). In his free time, Bryant enjoys traveling, spending time in the mountains, and snowboarding with family and friends.
