Meet the Interns: Alex Chen

Over the next few weeks, we will be putting the spotlight on our Amazing Intern Team – letting each one introduce themselves through a series of blog posts. Here’s one of the individuals currently interning at Burkett CPAs:

Alex Chen started his internship with Burkett Burkett & Burkett CPAs in January of this year, and he has shown himself to be an asset to the company and a great coworker over the past few months.

Alex heard about the internship program while interviewing our staff at BBB for a class project. Alex was given the chance to explore our Columbia office and thought it felt like a great workplace environment.

Fast-forward to this year, and Alex began his internship at BBB. This is Alex’s first time working in any type of business setting, and his hope going in was to learn a bit more about the skills and knowledge required in accounting. His experience in this internship has confirmed that accounting is the right field for him. “I enjoy what I do at BBB,” Alex told us. “I have learned through this internship to have pride in the work I do, to pay attention to details, and to value accuracy.”

Now that this internship has shown him what a career in accounting is like, Alex has set a goal of becoming a CPA as soon as possible in order to start his career strong. Alex is currently a junior at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, working towards an accounting degree.

Before moving to South Carolina in 2013, Alex lived in Shanghai, China for the first 12 years of his life. He has two Afghan hounds named Max and Sam and spends his free time watching educational videos, keeping up with consumer computer hardware news, and playing games with his friends.
