Deadline Quickly Approaching to Apply for CARES Act Grants
The state legislature has made $40 million available from federal CARES Act funds to provide grants to small businesses and nonprofits in South Carolina. These grants can range to $2,500 to $25,000 per business, so getting one can be a much-needed lifeline for businesses that have been severely impacted by the pandemic.
To earn one of these grants, a business must have 25 or fewer employees, physically have been in operation in SC from October 13th, 2019 to present, and have experienced a COVID-19 business impact.
- Applications for both the small business relief program and the nonprofit relief program can be found here. (Link has been removed as applications have closed.)
- SC SBDC Small Business Resources can be found here.
Applications are only being accepted during a 2-week window, from Monday, October 19th through Sunday, November 12st. Because of the compressed time period for applications, SC Small Business Development Centers (SC SBDC) is trying to help as many business owners apply for grants as possible. The SC SBDC is part of a national organization with a mission of helping small businesses by providing consulting, education, and connection to resources. If you need help applying or have any questions about the application process, the SC SBDC can offer guidance.
This is a fantastic opportunity for all the small businesses that were locked out of PPP loans to receive vital funds that could help them weather this storm. Don’t wait, apply today!
