Burkett Mourns the Loss of Austin M. Sheheen Jr., Camden CPA

Today, we are mourning the passing of a good friend, Austin M. Sheheen Jr., CPA. He was the founding member of Sheheen, Hancock & Godwin, LLP, Certified Public Accountants and was a former president of the South Carolina Association of CPAs (SCACPA). Mr. Sheheen was also included among South Carolina’s “100 Influential People in Accounting” during SCACPA’s 2015 centennial.

Donny Burkett said of Mr. Sheheen:

He was a giant in our profession. The CPA community is a close community, even though we compete for business. Austin was one of the people who made sure we continued that tradition. He was what every CPA or person should strive to be: a true friend, an honest individual, and someone who always tried to make whatever he touched better for the good of the people in his community. He was a good friend and a true professional.

In the CPA world, there are few who served so diligently and for so long. Mr. Sheheen will be dearly missed.
